TTS-Solutions offers our flexible and affordable online AutoCAD training courses as an alternative to classroom based training. Our online AutoCAD 2D Fundamentals and 3D Basic Training Courses gives the aptitudes expected to begin utilising and working effectively in AutoCAD.

Course Requirements:

Please note that this course is based on AutoCAD for Windows. This course requires a stable internet connection.

This course includes; Course software, AutoCAD 2D Fundamentals and 3D Basic books & Drawing packs.

These AutoCAD online training courses will be administered by an experience & professional AutoCAD trainer via a virtual platform. Webinar software will be provided to all course registrants. We also provide all course content in video session format for 30 days after the training course is completed. This allows you to review the course content even if you can’t attend a specific course date(s).

You will be provided with an attendance certificate upon successful completion.

  • Stable internet connection.
  • Basic Windows computer skills.
  • Own laptop/computer & scroll-wheel mouse.
  • Laptop/computer must have the relevant AutoCAD software installed and activated.
  • A second monitor is recommended, but not compulsory.
  • The 2D Fundamentals Course is a pre-requisite for our 3D courses

AutoCAD 2D Online Course Prospectus:

  1. Online Orientation (very basic)
    • Opening AutoCAD for the first time (use acadiso.dwg for first drawing – metric settings).
    • Drawing environment.
      • Ribbon and other parts of the drawing screen.
      • Model and Paper space.
      • Select Tool – basic (single select).
      • Inspector bar.
      • Command line (touch short cuts).
      • Pan, Zoom, navigation bar.

 

  1. Setting up the drawing environment
    • Decimal and precision etc.
    • Create one additional layer (Model – Blue, consider dark screen colours – Yellow).

 

  1. Basic drawing tools.
    • Line (L) Ortho Mode.
      • Mouse functions, select, zoom and the right click – extension menu.
      • Running Snaps
      • Rectangular method.
      • Grips, explain and demonstrate (ex 1A)
    • Select tools and Grouping of objects (Left to Right and Right to Left and single select – grips).
    • Circle
      • Circle, center and radius, Circle, 2 points and more.
      • Line/Arcs tangent to 2 arcs.
    • Polylin
      • Straight, Arc, Join and Explode. (Ex 1C)
    • Parallel line / Offset. (Ex 1A)
    • Polygon (inscribe and circumscribe circles).
    • Construction line / Rays (infinite line).

 

  1. Basic Modifying
    • Line length / Trim / Extend / shrink/ (TR shortcut).
    • Stretch.
    • Break (split).
    • Fillet.
    • Chamfer.

 

  1. Move, Rotate, Copy and Array copy tools
    • Copy.
    • Move.
    • Rotate (Ex 7)
    • Polar Array, Rectangular Array, Path Array. (Ex 8)
    • ( class example – door)

 

  1. Groups, Blocks and Blocks library – NB
    • create groups and blocks
    • Insert blocks.
    • Create, save a Blocks Library – and insert from library (Door and window exercise)

 

  1. Hatching – hatching scale (show 2 types). (Ex 9 and Ex 10)

 

  1. Model and Paper Space.
    • Page setup.
    • Create Viewports.

 

  1. Setting up of a drawing frame.
    • Create frame.
    • Insert title block (use blocks library).
    • Insert pictures or logos.
    • Insert text – single line and multiple lines.
    • Insert Dimensions. (Ex 11)

 

AutoCAD 3D Online Course Prospectus:

  1. Orientation (basic).
    • Open the AutoCAD program
    • Open personalized 2D Template which you have already created in the 2D Course. OR Choose from the template selection drop-down dwt or acad3D.dwt.
    • Ribbon still 2D if you previously have worked on your 2D template
    • And other parts of the drawing screen.
      • View Cube.
      • Navigation bar.

 

  1. Setting up the drawing environment.
    • Select 3D Modelling (also show 3D Basic).
      • New tools on the ribbon.
    • Change drawing area properties.
      • Switch off the grid.
      • Change the colour of the ribbon and drawing area.
    • Number of viewports can be created and they work as a unit – keep to one for now.
    • Create additional Layers (Model, HD, CL, Section Plane, Viewport, Text, Dimension and Construction lines).

 

  1. Workplanes and Views.
    • Set View controls to parallel and SW Isometric.
    • Set Visual styles control to Wireframe.
    • WCS and USC
    • Move between the different workplanes – stress the importance of workplanes. XYZ
    • Shortcut to pan – hold down mouse wheel and move mouse.
    • Shortcut to Orbit – move around your model. Shift + mouse wheel to rotate.
    • View cube, home from any position. Show different views, e.g. front, left, top, rear, bottom and right views.

 

  1. Solids, Modify and Edit.
    • 3D Slic Draw rectangle 200 x 100 x 70. Workplanes and importance of selection points to slice
    • Assemble by 3 Points – Rectangle and sliced Wedge.
    • Draw rectangle 200 x 100 x 90. Draw Cylinder in the centre and let cylinder protrude above rectangle. Make a
    • 3D Add and 3D Subtract using the rectangle in 4.3.
    • Fillet and Chamfer. Draw rectangle 120 x 80 x 65
      • Apply fillet – radius 25
      • Apply Chamfer both side lengths.

 

  1. Solids.
    • Shell solid – draw 2 identical rectangles 200 x 80 x 90 (a solid cylinder can be placed inside).
    • Wedge – stress selection of points.
    • Solids – show pyramid, torus, sphere etc.
    • Cone – Frustum using grips.

 

  1. Revolve – create open and closed profiles – Wheel.

 

  1. Sweep along a path – Polygonal shape (5 sides) and polyline.

 

  1. Twist

 

  1. 2D Extrude.
    • Using join to create a polyline from single 2D lines or curves.
    • Single polyline. g. draw 2D rectangle + circle in middle.
    • Polygonal prisms.

 

  1. Sectional Views.

 

  1. Saving a Template

 

  1. Paper Space Viewports.
    • Make sure you have created a layer for the viewport – this will allow you to print without viewport frame when layer is switched off.
    • Create more than one view port
    • Double click inside view port to activate – Frame goes dark. Zoom and place views as required.
    • Scale the different views and remember to lock the viewport.
    • Double click outside of the frames. Whole drawing will now zoom not only the drawing in the viewport.
